Tools for Showing Up During Hard Times
People consistently report that what they need most when they are in the early stages of mental health, substance use, and suicidal challenges is someone who will listen. At the same time, there are many barriers that can complicate connecting with people who may be struggling.
Research overwhelmingly shows that social connection is a protective factor for every major behavioral health challenge. Many excellent programs exist to provide guidance and support for the general public on how to intervene when people are experiencing a crisis; however, little exists to help people connect and provide support earlier on.
The primary goal of the L.I.S.T.E.N. training is to provide participants with the confidence and skills to connect with friends and family prior to the onset of a serious mental health or substance use crisis. The 90-minute L.I.S.T.E.N. training provides tools to help people understand how to show up, connect, and actively listen to and support the people in their lives who might be struggling. There will be an opportunity for Q and A following the presentation.
Suicide prevention is for everyone. L.I.S.T.E.N. is open to anyone age 16 and up. It is FREE to attend. Register below to receive the Zoom link two days prior to the presentation.
We require a minimum of 10 registrants to hold this training. SpeakUp ReachOut reserves the right to cancel the training a week in advance.
