Ministering to Suicidal Desperation

Soul Shop for Leaders is a one-day training to equip leaders of faith communities including pastors, paid and unpaid church workers, and those who are passionate about doing ministry to help those who are desperate due to any type of experience with suicide.

At Soul Shop™, we believe all congregations are well situated to be significant sources of hope and healing for those impacted by suicide. The program trains participants on the following:

• Suicide risk and the warning signs
• How to ask a person at risk if they might be thinking about suicide
• How to be a companion to those experiencing suicide loss
• What the Bible has to say about suicide and how to integrate suicide prevention into the life and ministry of the church

The training also includes the creation of worship resources, training congregation members in suicide awareness and basic conversation skills, and the invitation to those who have been suicidal in the past to share their stories.

Registration is required. Coffee, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

SpeakUp ReachOut is able to provide this course for free to participants via a grant specifically aimed towards training residents in Eagle County, Colorado in suicide prevention. As a result, we must first offer this course to Eagle County residents.
