Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) class with Lisa Kunkel

  • 217 broadway Eagle, Co 81631 (map)

I’m writing to invite you to join me for an 8 week Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) class. I’m teaching this course as part of a teacher certification process. Compassion Cultivation Training© (CCT) was designed at Stanford University's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education and is taught around the world by certified instructors.

The course will take place in Eagle at 217 Broadway on Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30p.m, from October 2nd through November 20th, 2019.

CCT offers a science-backed approach for practicing compassion for yourself and others. It’s a secular curriculum open to those of all faiths or of no particular faith tradition.  Through group discussions, meditation and inquiry, you will gain practical tools to enhance mindfulness, compassion and resilience. CCT can help you relate more positively with friends, family, and coworkers as well as cultivating self-compassion.

Personally, I have found the course and the practices it teaches to be one of the most transformative and positive tools I’ve encountered for my own wellbeing and in my relationships with others.  I took the course locally from certified instructor Mary Lou Keller in 2015 and have completed the 8-week curriculum 3 additional times as a teacher in training with the Compassion Institute.    The practices are now a part of my daily life and I am excited to share them because of the shifts I have experienced in myself and in my relationships with others.

This practicum is also an opportunity for me to practice teaching as part of my teacher certification process. Because this is my teaching practicum (and the course will be filmed so that master instructors can provide feedback to me) I’m offering it at 50% the normal tuition rate: $160.  Payment is expected in full at the beginning of class but a $40 reimbursement will be provided to everyone who attends all 8 sessions.  Motivated participants for whom the fee is a financial barrier can request a scholarship or fee reduction.

If you anticipate missing 2 or more sessions, taking the course in the future may when you have fewer time conflicts may be best.   I hope to offer a daytime option as well as an evening option with childcare in 2020.  I also hope to expand to teaching CCT in Spanish in 2020, so please let me know if you are interested in these options or know someone you would like to refer so I can reach out to interested participants directly when those options become available.

Some of you may be fellow CCT alumni from Mary Lou Keller’s classes throughout the community. You are welcome to attend again and I’d love for you to encourage others to participate based on your experience of the course.  I also hope we might begin a monthly gathering to sustain our practice and community.

More information is available in the attached flyer at www.compassioninstitute.com. Please RSVP to me (Lisa Kunkel) by Wednesday, September 25th at thirdstreetcounseling@gmail.com or 970-331-4682.

Thank you so much for your interest!  I would be thrilled to have you participate or if you refer friends, colleagues or family.

Sincerely,

Lisa Kunkel, LCSW
